The industry gives Aalborg engineers top grades
An investigation conducted by the "News Magazine The Engineer",
consulting 125 large Danish engineering companies, shows that
the engineering candidates from Aalborg University in all fields
perform well. The firms' HR managers were asked to evaluate the engineering candidates they had engaged, or otherwise knew about. The result showed that candidates from Aalborg University scored very high in most categories. For example, 81 % of the interviewees answered that the candidates from Aalborg had either good or very good contact and cooperation with the industry. In the "engineering and professional qualifications" category, 86 % of the companies experienced that the candidates from Aalborg University had a high level. The results are no surprise to Rector at Aalborg University Finn Kjærsdam, "Our teaching model for engineering degrees belongs to the international elite, which has long ago been confirmed by our many contacts. In Shanghai and in Boston they are organizing educations according to our model, and it is especially encouraging that the investigation shows that our professional capability is of a high quality. The OECD report on Danish educations calls for more active cooperation between universities and the industry. According to the above-mentioned investigation and Rector Finn Kjærsdam, Aalborg University has long ago drawn the consequences from this development. "Each year we have 2000 project groups from Aalborg University visiting Danish companies making their own projects. This ensures that the students are involved in their own learning to the maximum extent, and that they learn about the conditions existing in the industry" says Finn Kjærsdam. His statement is supported by the investigation in "The Engineer" showing that when it comes to marketing and at business economics, the opinion on Aalborg candidates is very positive. Rector Finn Kjærsdam emphasizes that "with the new investigation The Aalborg Model with problem-based learning has got the final seal of approval from the industry, a fact that cannot be ignored by the other engineering educations". |
